He appreciated the efforts of the Katuri Medical College for setting up the laboratory at a cost of Rs.2 crore.
Associate Dean Polavarapu Ratnagiri, who had gained rich experience in United States, has joined KMC to manage the laboratory.
The KMC Central Research Lab obtained research grants and collaborations from countries like Canada and Texas, said college Executive Director Y. Rajeswara Rao.
The laboratory has some of the modern equipment like ETCR, which would allow the post-graduate students to conduct research in diseases specific to the region like flurosis in addition to diabetic foot, cardio vascular and re-emerging diseases like malaria, Dengue, HIV, avian flu, and TB, Dr. Ravi Raju explained.
